The imaging radar method "Synthetic Aperture Radar" has established itself in recent years as an indispensable recording method for remote sensing of the earth, especially in the field of environmental observation.
The student learns the basics of how to use the principle of synthetic aperture to improve the geometric resolution and how to use radar sensors for image acquisition. The influences of wave form, wavelength, antenna, recording geometry and the properties of the scene on the radar image obtained are shown and explained to the students.
The knowledge learned is applied by processing real radar data.
Knowledge of communication engineering (CE I + II) is desirable but not a prerequisite.
